Another i phone game question

Was wondering if some of the games can be played without the internet? If so how would you know when the game is using the internet and when not? So far I am playing orange tree and word warp. thanks so much for any help.

If it is a one person game and you download it it doesn't use the internet anymore once installed.
If you are playing against someone, then you are using data.
Not a dumb question at all.
